When traveling, one of the best pieces of advice we can offer is simple: ask the locals where they dine. On a recent trip to Cleveland, our plans originally pointed us toward a “luxury” restaurant discovered through online research. But after a quick chat with a hotel employee, it became clear that what we value most is food and service, not simply being seen at the “it” place.

We decided to stop by that so-called hot spot for a pre-dinner drink and snack. Within minutes, we knew it wasn’t for us. Enter Dante and the evening was instantly saved.


From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the kind of kindness and warmth that feels like being welcomed into a friend’s home. It set the tone for what became a wonderful evening. If you have one chance to dine at Dante, the tasting menu is the only way to go.

The portions at Dante were not your typical “tasting menu” bites. These were generous, full dinner-sized plates, each one delicious, balanced, and deeply satisfying. We honestly don’t know how the tasting menu is priced so reasonably for the sheer amount and quality of food presented. It felt like a big, beautiful hug curated by none other than Michelin starred Chef Dante Boccuzzi himself.

Our server, Alex, embodied the very best of hospitality. Knowledgeable, intuitive, and full of joy, she wasn’t just serving a table she was part of the fabric that makes Dante such a special place to dine.

Much like how Detroit treasures Chef Jared Gadbaw’s return home with Oak & Reel, Cleveland is lucky to have Chef Dante. His culinary journey is extraordinary: from earning a Michelin star at Aureole in New York, to cooking for world leaders and celebrities, to opening a collection of celebrated restaurants across Cleveland, he has built a career defined by artistry and innovation. Located in the historic Tremont neighborhood, Dante is more than a restaurant it’s a reflection of its chef’s talent and his deep commitment to elevating Cleveland’s dining scene.

As many know, Kira rarely leaves a restaurant without a cookbook, but this one felt extra special. The photographs are breathtaking, something Emma will love learning from and the recipes are as beautiful as they are approachable. Chef Dante personally came out to sign our copy and spent time chatting with us about his journey. The foreword, written by the legend Charlie Trotter, makes the book even more meaningful.



We loved it so much that two of our favorite Detroit chefs will soon be receiving copies, complete with tabs marking the recipes we will be asking to try.

Dante represents everything we love about fine dining: world-class food, heartfelt service, and a sense of place that lingers long after the last bite. If you find yourself in Cleveland and only have one night to dine make it Dante.
