We loved our experience at Torno Subito in Dubai, so when it opened in Miami, it immediately went on our list. It is not often we have the opportunity to follow a concept internationally, which makes this one even more exciting. We were especially thrilled to see it reopen after its “pause,” now in one of our favorite areas of Miami the Design District.

The atmosphere is a standout: bright, high-energy, and effortlessly retro-chic, with live electric strings adding to the experience.
We opted for the tasting menu, starting with a zero-waste welcome bite that set the tone right away fun, thoughtful, and delicious. Each dish was well executed and consistently delicious.

Another highlight of the evening was meeting Head Chef Bernardo Paladini, thanks to a connection with one of our favorite Detroit chefs. He stopped by for a chat and was simply delightful. Another great moment during our self-created Jabri Restaurant Week.

Tambourine Room by Tristan Brandt is tucked inside Miami Beach’s historic Carillon Hotel. The welcome is immediate and polished, beginning in the Tambourine Lounge an intentional prelude to the evening. Navy and gold velvet ropes, a welcome carpet, and gilded accents set the tone: exclusive, yet inviting.

Chef Logan greeted us for the evening (fun fact he is from Michigan). There is nothing better than true chef engagement, when they educate, interact, and bring meaning to each dish, truly elevating the experience throughout the evening.

We added caviar to the poached halibut because, as we like to say, “everything’s better with caviar.” It was a seamless upgrade. A standout from Chef Justin, inspired by his Trinidad heritage, explored corn in unexpected ways, popcorn ricotta, roasted corn husk, and delicate leek threads. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause and say, ‘wow that was incredible’.

In the heart of Miami, Tambourine Room delivers a Michelin-level experience without leaning into the “influencer moment.” The luxury is there, but grounded in the food, service, and intention.

Elcielo holds one Michelin Star (since 2022), but what sets it apart is the way the
experience is structured. This is not a traditional progression of courses, it is a
multisensory, highly interactive approach to modern Colombian cuisine that keeps you

The setting only adds to it. The main dining room overlooks a canal lined with yachts

To close out the Orlando leg of our self-created Jabri Restaurant Week, we circled back to Knife & Spoon for “ The Art of Kobe”, a new exclusive five-course, chef-driven experience showcasing authentic Kobe beef paired with curated wines. An evening that seamlessly combined our love for this property with our appreciation for thoughtful, elevated dining.

The experience began with a wine tasting led by Jess introducing us to new pours while taking the time to understand our preferences. From there, we moved to the Primo Garden for a Champagne toast and the opportunity to select ingredients for the chefs to incorporate into the evening.

We also had the chance to visit the dry-aging room, gaining a deeper appreciation for the technique, care, and precision behind what ultimately arrives at the table, something we never take for granted.

Chef Tyler and Chef Hugh were incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely fun to engage with throughout the evening, adding another layer to an already memorable experience.
And what continues to stand out, year after year, is the team. Every single person is kind, attentive, and sincere in what they do. You can feel when a team truly cares and here, that care is unmistakable.

If you follow us, you know we value experiences that go beyond the plate, and this is absolutely one of them. For those who truly love food and fine dining, this is a must.

Camille is simply exceptional. A French Vietnamese experience that is elegant, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated feeling more like being invited into a beautifully designed home than dining out.

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality set the tone. Before the first course even landed, we knew we were in for something special.

Every dish was executed with care, making standouts difficult but the Pho Hà Nội, Súp Măng Cua, and Cháo Cá left a lasting impression. The Súp Măng Cua, finished with a white chocolate hollandaise, completely reset Emma’s expectations of the sauce (unfortunately for Kira, permanently raising the standard read more in the blog).

The chef’s counter added to the intimacy of the experience, and the sake pairings introduced new ones to us. A beautifully presented Camellia tea and a preview of an unreleased, Camille-exclusive champagne added thoughtful, memorable touches.

If you’re in Orlando and looking for French Vietnamese cuisine executed with precision and heart, Camille is not to be missed.

Sorekara is thoughtful in every sense of the word. From a guided progression through multiple spaces beginning in a tranquil Zen garden, to an omakase rooted in Japan’s 72 microseasons, the evening is designed with intention.
Sorekara maintains a reduced phone policy, limiting photography and asking that certain moments remain undocumented. At one point in the experience, phones are set aside entirely, allowing the “magic” of the course to unfold in real time as intended.

The team is exceptionally warm, delivering a level of hospitality and polish that aligns with what you would expect from a two-star experience.

Securing a reservation isn’t easy, especially if you’re not staying on property, but somehow the stars aligned and we moved off the waitlist when a Chef’s Table opening became available. We didn’t hesitate. We’re drawn to interactive kitchen experiences, so this one felt meant to be.

We’ll admit, we went in a little unsure if it might feel too “Disney” for our palates… but what we found was a very interactive experience at a fine dining restaurant.

From meeting chefs with ties to Detroit and Pennsylvania to unexpected connections like The Chef’s Garden, it reminded us how small the world can be when you’re sitting around a table.

Kadence had been on our Orlando radar for a while, but with only eight seats at the counter (and our requirement of three), securing a reservation isn’t exactly easy. Fortunately, Carmine has a talent for making reservations happen.

Night three of our self-created, and still very much not sponsored 😊, “Jabri Restaurant Week” brought us to Kadence for the first of three omakase experiences this week. Yes…three. Because Emma loves sushi and Emma is one awesome kid.

To know Emma is to know her love (perhaps obsession) with sushi. We still blame it on the extensive tasting we did while Kira was pregnant at Morimoto in Philadelphia (we didn’t know). The long-term implications are clear her palate has only become more refined as she experiences the work of some of the world’s best sushi chefs.

Kadence is the kind of omakase that reminds you why counter dining is so special, intimate, thoughtful, and incredibly personal. We also loved supporting another husband-and-wife team. Mark and Jennifer Berdin create an experience that is warm and elevated with a passionate streak of fun. Chef Mark, Emma is proud to be the first kid from Cranbrook (reference Eminem and 8 Mile) to sit at your counter.

Also, if you enjoy sake, do the pairing. Trust us.

Pro tip: the door is easy to miss. An unmarked black building, very much if you know, you know.

the magic is still there.

At Ômo by Jônt, it absolutely is.

Every snack set the tone for a beautifully paced evening, and the sauces throughout the menu were next level especially the sauce with the Madai. It was so good we half-jokingly
suggested it should be served as a soup… and the team surprised us with an impromptu tasting of it that way. As publishers of a soup cookbook, we feel qualified to say: it
absolutely works.

Another highlight was celebrating Carmine’s appreciation for noble rot wines. Juan shared a Royal Tokaji from his personal collection, and the generosity and hospitality made the
moment unforgettable.

Kicking off our Orlando Restaurant Week at Knife & Spoon.
We’ve been coming to Knife & Spoon since they first opened, and it continues to be one of our go-to restaurants whenever we’re in Orlando. The consistency, precision, and service are exactly why it has remained such a standout in the city’s dining scene.

Our self-created, and unfortunately not sponsored, “Jabri Restaurant Week” felt like the perfect excuse to return. We always enjoy starting with the Hamachi and Antonius caviar, and it wouldn’t be a visit without their signature Knife Steak Tartare. A favorite from our last visit, the crab rice, was an easy decision to order again. This trip we added something new to the mix and tried a pasta, the Doppio Ravioli.

Every time we visit, we’re reminded how well this restaurant balances refinement with approachability.

One of our favorite seasonal tasting menus in Detroit is Mink, and combined with the fact that it’s a caviar lover’s dream, we do our best to catch every new menu drop. Their menu changes every 3–4 weeks, which means each visit feels like a completely new experience.
They also have a wonderful pairing. The service is always spectacular, but the real challenge at Mink is pacing ourselves. Between the incredible oysters, a fantastic selection of tin fish, and an entire section of their menu devoted to caviar, we’re somehow also supposed to save room for the lobster roll and the tasting menu. Years of dining practice have made us fairly well trained in this department. One surprise standout this visit was the parsnip mousse, so delicious it might give mashed potatoes some serious competition.
Pro tip: do not show up, especially on a Friday or Saturday without a reservation.

Anthony has been taking care of us for over a decade (he is now on Instagram) and he treated us to some of his Thai lemongrass tea, inspired by his most recent trip to Thailand. For February only, Oak & Reel is offering a six-course tasting menu centered around five pasta courses available Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. This meant we had to do some strategic planning which we were happy to do.
Pro tip: this is a serious pasta progression. We approached it the way one prepares for an athletic competition - disciplined, strategic, and fully committed to the finish. We are a family in constant training.
Each course had its own identity. What elevated the experience even further was Chef Kayla taking the time to walk us through every dish. Understanding the intent behind each shape, filling, and sauce made the progression feel immersive rather than indulgent.
Choosing favorites felt almost unfair, but that’s part of the fun.
Emma ultimately stayed loyal to her regular pasta. She knows what she likes, and she stands by it.
Kira’s standout was the second course: Culurgione — Sardinian stuffed pasta with baccalà and saffron butter. Already admittedly obsessed with the baccalà on the main menu, seeing it folded into pasta with potato felt like a dream realized. Visually stunning and technically meticulous, it definitely requires a moment to appreciate the time and skill behind it.
Carmine’s choice was the fifth course: Mafaldine “alla Morocco” — spiced lamb ragù with olive and apricot. Deep, aromatic, slightly sweet, and entirely transportive. If Carmine dreamed in pasta, this would be the dream.

After missing Grey Ghost Detroit’s “Sunday at Nonna’s” thanks to a snowstorm, we were determined to explore what’s new, because their menu is always evolving while still honoring their cult classic. And truly, has anyone ever gone to Grey Ghost and skipped the burger? If so, we’d like to meet you.
New favorites:
• Beef Tartare – reminiscent of a refined Caesar, layered, bright, and beautifully balanced.
• Tortilla Soup – built on a subtle carrot base that adds just the right touch of sweetness. As a family who edited and published a soup cookbook, we can confidently say: this one delivers.
• Lentil Pancake – deeply savory with a satisfying, protein-forward finish.
• Lamb Meatballs – butter rice, Mongolian BBQ notes, bok choy… this one will sting when it rotates off.
Most of all, we were grateful to catch up with our friends before they close for the week. There’s something special about ending the night not just with a great meal, but with great people.

Snowed in on Sunday, we leaned into comfort and made another gratin, this time a spinach gratin from Vegetable Simple by Eric Ripert. We used spinach from our The Chef’s Garden box, and it was the perfect cozy, nourishing way to wrap up the weekend.

Being longtime fans of SheWolf, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of its much-anticipated sister restaurant. The moment Medusa opened just a few doors down, we were there at the first opportunity. Let us say this clearly, Medusa did not disappoint.

Naturally, we tried as much of the menu as we possibly could. One of our favorite moments came courtesy of Emma. Her standout dish was the panelle, which confidently declared “falafel.” Chef Anthony Lombardo happened to stop by our table and took a moment to explain why her instinct was spot-on. Emma was fully validated.

Moments like that are why we love dining this way as a family. Watching Emma connect flavors across cultures recognizing similarities, asking questions, building her palate is one of the greatest joys of Jabri Fine Dining.

The proximity between the two restaurants is a stones throw. We went in curious whether Medusa would compete with SheWolf. Instead, we found that they complement each other beautifully. Same warm hospitality, same thoughtful execution, two distinct culinary identities. Medusa has officially earned its place in our rotation, and we’re already looking forward to our return.

we needed. Sufret Maryam translates to “Maryam’s Dining Table,” and that’s exactly how it feels: warm, welcoming, and meant to be shared.

Trèsind (or, as we lovingly call it, Trèsind OG) is firmly planted on our Dubai repeat list. On this trip to Dubai, we had the joy of dining at both Tresind Studio (now holding three Michelin stars) and returning to Trèsind and we can confidently say there is more than enough space and love in our hearts for both.

We were also fortunate enough to meet Himanshu Saini. Over the years, dining at Trèsind and Tresind Studio has played a meaningful role in developing our understanding of Indian cuisine expanding our palates, deepening our appreciation for
regional ingredients, and helping us taste beyond what we once thought we knew. That brief exchange reinforced what we’ve felt at the table time and again: his work doesn’t
just feed you, it educates you, leaving you more curious, more confident, and more connected to the cuisine with every visit.

While we truly don’t want to compare the two restaurants, what stood out most at Trèsind “OG” beyond what may very well be the most mouthwatering Indian food you’ll ever eat was the level of guest interaction. The team doesn’t just serve you; they invite you into the experience. We left with an actual grocery list of ingredients we’re now hunting down at our local Indian grocer: tomato rasam, wild mushroom chai, and more.
And the moment we’re back in our home kitchen, we’ll be experimenting with making lavasa bread, wish us luck.

Both Trèsind Studio and Trèsind OG are extraordinary in their own ways. But for a restaurant we return to again and again, for comfort layered with creativity, for flavors that linger long after the last bite Trèsind OG will always be on repeat.

On this trip to Dubai, we had the joy of dining at both Tresind Studio (now holding three Michelin stars) and returning to Trèsind and we can confidently say there is more than enough space and love in our hearts for both.

We were also fortunate enough to meet Himanshu Saini. Over the years, dining at Trèsind and Tresind Studio has played a meaningful role in developing our understanding of Indian cuisine expanding our palates, deepening our appreciation for
regional ingredients, and helping us taste beyond what we once thought we knew. That brief exchange reinforced what we’ve felt at the table time and again: his work doesn’t
just feed you, it educates you, leaving you more curious, more confident, and more connected to the cuisine with every visit.

While we truly don’t want to compare the two restaurants, what stood out most at Trèsind “OG” beyond what may very well be the most mouthwatering Indian food you’ll ever eat was the level of guest interaction. The team doesn’t just serve you; they invite you into the experience. We left with an actual grocery list of ingredients we’re now hunting down at our local Indian grocer: tomato rasam, wild mushroom chai, and more.
And the moment we’re back in our home kitchen, we’ll be experimenting with making lavasa bread, wish us luck.

Both Trèsind Studio and Trèsind OG are extraordinary in their own ways. But for a restaurant we return to again and again, for comfort layered with creativity, for flavors that linger long after the last bite Trèsind OG will always be on repeat.

Moonrise is an absolute gem. An intimate, 12-seat chef’s counter where the experience feels immediate and intentional from the moment you sit down. At its core, Moonrise tells the story of Dubai’s diverse culinary landscape. Chef Solemann draws inspiration from his Middle Eastern roots and his upbringing in Dubai, creating elevated comfort food that consistently surpasses expectation. Roots and the fattoush ceviche absolutly were mind blowing.

Chef Solemann and the entire Moonrise team were extraordinary. Sitting so close to the action allowed us to feel fully part of the experience, and we loved every second of it. We could have talked with the Moonrise team for hours. Next time, we’ll be booking the later seating, with full intentions of officially closing the restaurant down for the night (as we have a habit of doing). Moonrise is exactly that kind of place.

Carmine informed Emma that when we reach the next chapter of life, winters spent in Dubai, she’ll find her parents spending their Saturday nights right here, seated at the Chef’s Table.

Choosing a standout dish feels nearly impossible because, quite honestly, everything was sheer perfection. That said, the ‘fish and chips’ deserves special mention if only because it will forever ruin the classic version for us. In the unofficial Jabri Fine Dining culinary dictionary, quotation marks signal a reimagining so transformative that the original will never be as exciting. Forever will we flash back to City Social’s ‘fish and chips’ whenever eating the classic.

The wine pairings were equally exceptional, we even snapped a picture of few of the labels, already earmarked for our collection. One thing we rarely comment on, but feel compelled to here, is value. In our opinion and based on extensive global comparisons, the City Social Chef’s Table with wine pairing is exceptionally well-priced for the caliber of cuisine, experience, and service delivered.

The evening concluded on one of the most clever and genuinely fun dessert experiences we’ve ever encountered: the City Social Ice Cream Game. Five unmarked white ice creams, each concealing a different flavor, with the challenge being to identify them correctly. Naturally, all three of us competed and Emma won. We couldn’t have been prouder, not just because she won, but because it perfectly reflects what we believe in. Take your kids to great restaurants. Let them taste, question, and explore. Developing young palates with extraordinary flavors isn’t indulgence, it’s education, curiosity, and confidence served one spoonful at a time.

Smoked Room Dubai is one of those dining experiences that feels immersive from the moment you step inside. This intimate 14-seat fire omakase concept has been airlifted directly from Madrid to Dubai, now onto the rooftop of St. Regis Gardens.

If there were an award for most on-theme restaurant, Smoked Room would win it effortlessly. The aroma of smoke is constant but refined, never overpowering, and thoughtfully woven into every course. One of the most striking design elements is the
suspended mirror above the counter. It’s one thing to have a front-row seat at a chef’s table, but seeing every cut, stir, and finish reflected from above adds an entirely new dimension. It’s mesmerizing and unlike anything we’ve experienced before.

Dessert was equally impressive. The chocolate and miso dish stood out for its extraordinary texture and balance. Even with Emma’s phenomenal photography skills, this was one dish that simply refused to be fully captured on camera; it must be experienced in person to be appreciated.

And in true Smoked Room fashion, the drama doesn’t end with dessert. Even the bill arrives cloaked in smoke. A final, playful reminder that every detail here is intentional.

The tasting menu was structured by region, guiding us through India’s extraordinary geographic and culinary diversity. Before each new chapter of the meal, a beautifully detailed topographic map was presented tableside, grounding the dishes in place and history. Ingredients were introduced in context, what each region is known for, how climate and culture shape flavor turning the experience into a lesson as much as a meal. As a family that dines not only for exceptional food but also for education and cultural understanding, this resonated deeply with us.

This was not simply a modern take on Indian cuisine, but a decidedly luxurious one. With very limited seating and what often feels like a near one-to-one guest-to-chef ratio, every detail felt personal and intentional.

We left with a beautifully designed menu booklet, one that belongs in every U.S. global studies classroom. Beyond a keepsake, every table also left with a beautiful piece of original art by @charlespaintings_256_ to remember the evening. Trèsind Studio isn’t just a meal; it’s an education, a shared experience, and a reminder of why we dine the way we do as a family, with curiosity, and with reverence for the stories behind the food.

This was not simply a modern take on Indian cuisine, but a decidedly luxurious one. With very limited seating and what often feels like a near one-to-one guest-to-chef ratio, every detail felt personal and intentional.

We left with a beautifully designed menu booklet, one that belongs in every U.S. global studies classroom. Beyond a keepsake, every table also left with a beautiful piece of original art by @charlespaintings_256_ to remember the evening. Trèsind Studio isn’t just a meal; it’s an education, a shared experience, and a reminder of why we dine the way we do as a family, with curiosity, and with reverence for the stories behind the food.

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal has been on our Dubai wish list for quite some time. This is not a restaurant you simply walk into, rather it’s one you arrive at. As a family that enjoys a bit of food anthropology, this experience was genuinely fun. We opted for the tasting menu, feeling it would offer the most complete view of the restaurant’s perspective.

And of course, no experience would be complete without Carmine leaning fully into the moment, his staging very much continuing. He took a turn at tableside service of the famous Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Trolley dessert, and Emma and I were genuinely impressed.

If there is one flaw to be found, it exists outside the dining room. While currently holding two Michelin stars, ROW on 45 is undeniably operating at a three-star level. Until the guide catches up, an unofficial third star from Jabri Fine Dining will have to suffice.

One dish, in particular, the Kutchan 540 potato was extraordinary in both taste and story. Snow-aged for 540 days in a Hokkaido snow cellar, this potato is prized for its extraordinary sweetness and silk-like texture. At ROW on 45, it’s presented as a refined nod to the comfort of a British jacket potato. Finished with caviar (because, as we like to say, everything is better with caviar), it’s a dish we’ll be dreaming about for a long time. We were especially honored to experience it knowing this potato is served exclusively at ROW on 45 outside of Japan.

We were genuinely excited to return to Hōseki. Set within the Bvlgari Resort Dubai, the space is stunning overlooking Burj Khalifa. Our first visit during daylight, the second in the evening, both glorious. This visit also coincided with Emma’s birthday yesterday, which we seem to be extending the celebration over a few days.
What stood out most on a return visit was consistency. The pacing is measured, the
technique assured, and the restraint unwavering. Hōseki doesn’t rely on surprise or spectacle. It operates with quiet confidence, allowing the craft to speak for itself.
Chef Sugiyama’s engagement was thoughtful and sincere. He remembered Emma from our previous visit and took evident pleasure in welcoming a young diner with a true appreciation for sushi back to the counter. Throughout the meal, he engaged her in quiet conversation, reinforcing the idea that respect for the craft and for those eager to learn transcends age. In a city known for scale and spectacle, Hōseki remains precise and grounded. A restaurant built on trust, repetition, and mastery and one that continues to hold its ground.

Think conference chairs gave way to a table built for lingering conversations and shared moments.

This intimate, sold-out evening brought together people from different worlds, all connected by a belief that meaningful conversations happen best around the table (conference room and fine dining). Zaytinya is a restaurant we’ve eaten at more times than we can count, and the NYC location is our absolute favorite. The flavors are vibrant, comforting, and somehow still refined, perfect for our family Mediterranean pallet with the elevation that Zatinya brings to traditional staples.
