At Jabri Fine Dining, long weekends like Memorial Day are a chance to slow down, reconnect, and reflect on what truly matters. We’re deeply grateful for the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and because of them, we’re able to spend these moments in the company of those we love, sharing laughter, stories, and unforgettable meals.

This weekend was all about staying close to home and celebrating with some of the places that never fail to deliver something truly special starting with the ever-impressive Oak & Reel, where each visit feels like a masterclass in elegance and creativity. From their perfectly balanced flavors to the kind of service that makes you feel like family, dining at Oak & Reel is always a highlight.

We also returned to Table 5, a Northville gem that consistently delivers refined
comfort food in a charming and intimate setting. This visit, however, was particularly special. While the food at Table 5 is always outstanding, this meal was a standout for Chef Maddie. Each dish carried a sense of boldness and refinement that felt like a personal expression of her craft. It’s always a joy to watch a chef evolve, and this weekend’s menu was a beautiful reflection of her growing culinary voice.

Another highlight of the weekend was our first visit to San Morello, a stylish Italian eatery nestled in the heart of downtown Detroit. It’s been on our list for some time, the service was warm, attentive, and elevated the entire experience. The standout for us? Their wood-fired pizzas beautifully blistered, richly flavored, and a perfect example of rustic Italian.

To close out the weekend, we embraced a more casual, heartfelt kind of dining—gathering with friends for a relaxed cookout at FLCC. There’s something timeless about cooking over an open flame, sharing simple plates, and raising a glass with people who feel like home. It reminded us that while we love the art of fine dining, what truly matters is the feeling a meal brings—the warmth, the connection, the joy.
As we look back on the weekend, we’re reminded that fine dining isn’t just about technique or tasting menus it’s about intention, passion, and the shared experience of a meal well made. Whether at a beloved neighborhood spot or around a backyard grill, it’s these moments that linger long after the plates are cleared.
