Congratulations, Grey Ghost!


What a special night, and congratulations on 10 years!


We were so happy to attend Grey Ghost's 10-year birthday celebration. What a special place. When we travel, one thing we're proud to boast about is Detroit's exploding culinary landscape. Grey Ghost is one of the restaurants that continues to prove why our city deserves to be part of every serious food lover's itinerary.

So, when we learned they were celebrating their 10-year birthday with a special tasting menu, you know we'll be there.


Chefs from every restaurant under the Four-Man Ladder Hospitality group came together. It wasn't lost on us that there's something uniquely wonderful about the restaurant industry. Imagine celebrating your own birthday by working even harder to throw an incredible party for everyone else. That is exactly what the entire team did.



We have to say, Chef John Vermiglio delivered a fantastic speech filled with gratitude and humor. As a family who is deeply invested in Chicago, it was interesting to see how many chefs have passed through a city we love so deeply.


Let's talk menu. Officially, it was four courses, but it was truly eight, with each course featuring two tasting components. Each course arrived family-style and was definitely not conservative in its portions.


  • Taco Salad and Wagyu Tartare Slider
  • Crab Gnudi
  • Beef & Broccoli

We're not even going to list everything we ate because it wouldn't do the meal justice. Sure, we could tell you there was a chicken cutlet, but that wouldn't begin to explain that it was a chicken cutlet with heirloom tomatoes, pickled cheddar, butter-caper aioli, and everything seasoning with dill. Just look at the menu. 😊

  • Olive Oil Cake and Black Sesame Madeline

And then there were the cocktails. Usually not a cocktail family (Disaronno/Bubbles/Tea), Grey Ghost is always the exception. If you need help with pairings, Jenna is next-level talented.


One thing that has always set Grey Ghost apart is the joy of the team. We loved all the glamour shots throughout the month and learning even more about all the team members. 


Congratulations again. Here is to another decade and a sincere thank you for always making our family feel so welcome.
