For the month of August, one of our Michigan favorites is doing something extraordinary. Oak & Reel, celebrated for its Italian-inspired seafood and pasta, has swapped Italy for France just for one month.
We’ve had the pleasure of visiting a few times already and even got a sneak preview during the Jacques Pépin dinner earlier this summer.

Emma has been especially excited about this menu. From the moment she heard Oak & Reel was going French for August combined with the Jacques Pépin dinner she was so excited to apply what she learned about French food from her French class. She’s always eager to try something new, and Oak & Reel’s French lineup has given her the perfect opportunity to expand her palate.
Michelin-starred Chef Jared Gadbaw has curated an exclusively French menu, a delicious nod to his roots as a classically trained French chef.

This French menu offers plenty to love and we’ll miss a few of our new favorites the leeks, the tartine, the tournedos rossini and the ravioli come September. Their escargot preparation is perfect for anyone hesitant to try this delicacy: tender, buttery, and served over wild rice risotto for a comforting, flavor-packed bite.

And then there are the squash blossoms, a JFD family favorite. Oak & Reel’s August version might be the best yet: stuffed with ratatouille, perfectly fried, and bursting with this flavorful French classic.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to enjoy a French fine dining experience in the heart of Detroit, August at Oak & Reel is your chance. This menu disappears at the end of the month, and trust us, you’ll want to be able to say you were there.
