Topolobampo, a Michelin-starred treasure from Chef Rick Bayless and Deann Bayless, has long been celebrated for elevating Mexican cuisine to the fine dining stage, and during our most recent visit, we were treated to a brilliant, playful, and deeply thoughtful menu.
We had the pleasure of experiencing the “MEXICO CITY: Taco Capital of the World” menu and as taco lovers, it was a dream come true. Since Topolobampo’s tasting menus evolve throughout the year, we felt incredibly lucky to catch this one. Yes, a fine dining taco tasting menu, and no, this wasn’t your average taco night. The idea of dedicating an entire Michelin-starred tasting to tacos was both playful and profound and every bite delivered.

The setting was as exceptional as the menu. The dining room is warm and modern, with curated art that nods to Mexican heritage and creativity. Service was gracious and deeply knowledgeable our server guided us through the inspiration behind each course with genuine enthusiasm. Family friendly, yes! Emma’s only critique is that they do not serve Shirley Temples. However, all was forgotten when they whipped up their Mexican Hot Chocolate and even gave her some to go.

Topolobampo didn’t just serve us tacos. It gave us a cultural journey through Mexico City, filtered through the lens of fine dining. This menu reminded us why we love what we do at Jabri Fine Dining, exploring how food tells stories, connects generations, and captures the soul of a place.
If you ever get the chance to experience one of Topolobampo’s themed tasting menus, go.
We encourage you to explore their menu archive that they have titled, “The Flavors of a Story”. It’s a beautiful reflection of how cuisine can preserve culture, spark curiosity, and turn dinner into an unforgettable narrative.
