The first time we dined at Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare, we were convinced we had taken a wrong turn. Tucked behind a bustling gourmet grocery store in Hell’s Kitchen this unassuming location hides one of New York’s most extraordinary fine dining experiences. Imagine stepping through the pages of The Secret Garden—except instead of roses and ivy, you’re greeted by foie gras, wagyu, and Hokkaido uni.

Walk past the deli counter, shelves of shampoo, locally roasted coffees, and specialty condiments, and a friendly employee will simply point you “in the back.” What lies beyond is an unexpected oasis of luxury and precision, an intimate space where world-class cuisine unfolds course by course, like a symphony performed in secret.
Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare has had a remarkable journey through the Michelin ranks—once holding three stars, then unexpectedly losing them all, and now proudly reclaiming two. Despite this dramatic shift, the essence of the experience never wavered. Under the direction of the current culinary team led by chefs Max Natmessnig and Marco Prins, the restaurant has entered a powerful new chapter. Each visit remains a masterclass in technique and imagination, and our most recent evening reminded us exactly why this hidden gem continues to earn its place among New York’s finest.
We savored:

Each course was a study in detail and balance, executed with precision and served with the kind of seamless hospitality that makes you feel more like a guest than a customer.
Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare is more than just a meal, it’s a reminder that the most unforgettable experiences are often found where you least expect them. Behind a refrigerator case. Past the deli. And always, in the back.
